Compatibility refers to the mutual interactions between two components that will results in change in properties of either of the components.
In order to make sure that two or more components with a potential contact with each other (via gases or direct contact) do not affect each other it is possible to study the thermal response in terms of heat flow from each of the samples and from a combinations of the samples. The results are used to estimate the degree of compatibility and the risk for long-term interactions.
